Corissa and Brian

About Us

We’ve been traveling together since 2006, right after I did a semi solo trip around the world (northern hemisphere) for three months. I earned two around the world economy airline tickets with 15 stops while traveling for work. So I took a leave of absence from work and I went. I traveled for six weeks solo in Europe and then my mom joined me for the remaining six weeks in Asia.

This was before blogs and camera phones, so I had an email distribution list and would send updates periodically – I may dig some of those back up and repost on this site. It was a journey of self discovery, and I would not be who I am today without going on that adventure.

Brian and I started traveling immediately after we started dating, mostly weekends away as we both had full-time corporate jobs. Within 5 months of dating, we had gone to Savannah, skiing with friends in Colorado, Washington D.C. for the cherry blossoms, Massachusetts for a wedding and New York City.

Our first trip abroad was a dive trip to Ambergris Caye, Belize and a visit to the ancient Mayan city Xunantunich. We dove the Great Blue Hole, Half Moon Caye, and Hol Chan Marine Reserve. I was scuba certified in 2001, and Brian got certified specifically for this trip, but there will be many more dive trips for us. Our Honeymoon included a dive trip to Rangiroa in French Polynesia, which is still in our top five dive destinations today.

About a year after we were married, we moved to Singapore on the other side of the world. We actually started a blog then to document our life and travels from Singapore. The only people who actually read it were our parents, maybe our siblings and some friends. However, we got busy with our professional lives and climbing the corporate ladder, so the blog went by the wayside.

15+ years later, we find ourselves still traveling, albeit a bit differently now since we have more than 1-2 weeks at a time. This also means that we have the capacity to document and share our experiences. After years spent traveling for work and staying in corporate hotels, with only 1-2 weeks for our vacation travel, we are slowly discovering our personal travel style and that will probably continue to evolve.

We spent a good portion between 2020-2022 doing road trips in the US, and initially thought we may get an Airstream or something similar, but after seeing them on the road, we knew we would not enjoy towing anything across the US – though Brian does have a story for this.

We are also not campers, and the most budget we’ll go is a clean roadside inn, such as a Fairfield Inn & Suites or a SpringHill Suites (our preference is Marriott, followed by Hilton properties based on loyalty status). Brian’s actually never stayed in a hostel, and I’m okay with not staying in dormitory style accommodations and having shared bathrooms. And while we do love a good 5 star luxury hotel, we do not require it (nor do we have the budget for it) all the time. We do use VRBO and AirBnB and have had great experiences with that.

We look forward to sharing our travel stories and adventures and hope it inspires you to go explore our small world and make travel memories of your own. For us, life is all about experiences.
